During the Edo or Tokugawa era, which spanned from 1600 to 1868, there was a female samurai named Ran who excelled in using the katana and had a strong liking for sake (rice wine). She encountered a Chinese martial artist known as Lady Meow of the Iron Cat Fist. Together, they embarked on various adventures that were later compiled into short stories called Tsukikage Ran.
