The story of Seiken Tsukai no World Break takes place at Akane Private Academy, where students with memories from previous lives are trained in Ancestral Arts to defend against monsters called Metaphysicals. These students, known as saviors, are divided into two categories: kurogane who can use prana to summon offensive weapons and kuroma who can use magic. The series begins six months before the major climax during the opening ceremony on the first day of school. During this time, Moroha Haimura meets Satsuki Ranjou, who reveals that she was his sister in a past life where he was a heroic prince capable of slaying entire armies with his sword skills. He later encounters Shizuno Urushibara, who discloses that she knew him in an entirely different past life where he was a dark lord capable of using destructive magic but saved her from a life of slavery.
