The game Yggdrasil is ending soon, but before it does, Momonga, a powerful wizard who leads the dark guild Ainz Ooal Gown, decides to spend his last few moments playing as the servers begin to shut down. To his astonishment, despite the clock striking midnight, he remains fully conscious and notices that even the non-player characters have developed their own personalities! As a result, Momonga orders his loyal servants to investigate this strange occurrence and take control of this new world in hopes of discovering what caused it and if there are others like him.
