Ken Kaneki has finally come to terms with the monstrous part of himself that he had long feared and despised. After escaping captivity and torture, he joins Aogiri Tree-the ghoul organization that had kidnapped him, causing his friends to question his true intentions and loyalty. As tensions between humans and ghouls escalate, the Commission of Counter Ghoul intensifies its efforts to eradicate all ghouls from Tokyo, putting at risk the fragile peace enjoyed by Kanekis former classmates and fellow ghouls at Anteiku coffee shop. Faced with this perilous situation, Kaneki must engage in several battles that jeopardize his precious fleeting humanity.

Episode 1 was previewed at a screening at TOHO Cinemas, Nihonbashi on January 4, 2015. Regular broadcasting began on January 9, 2015.
