Arata Kaizaki was dismissed as a hopeless loser by those around him after quitting his first company. He bounced from one job to another without any direction in life until he met Ryou Yoake of the ReLife Research Institute, who offered him an opportunity to change his life for the better with a mysterious pill. Arata took it without hesitation and woke up the next day as a 17-year-old. He soon learned that he was now part of an experiment where he had to attend high school as a transfer student for one year. Despite believing it would be easy due to his life experience, Arata struggled on his first day: he failed all his tests, was out of shape, and couldn't keep up with the new school policies that had changed in the past 10 years. Ryou observed him, adding to his annoyance. ReLIFE follows Arata as he tries to adapt to his new life and avoid repeating his mistakes while learning more about his fellow classmates.
