The Divine Gate is a tale that young children are told about the blending of three worlds - the living world, the heavens, and the underworld. People born with special abilities due to this union formed the World Council, which manages the chaos at the Gate by presenting its story as nothing more than a myth. These individuals receive training in an academy owned by the World Council where they can develop their skills.
Aoto, a teenage boy possessing exceptional water powers and a tragic past, repeatedly refuses to join this academy until he is persuaded by Midori, an energetic wind user, and Akane, a stubborn fire user. Along with the World Council and its leader Arthur, they embark on a quest to discover the truth about the Gate. However, in order to achieve their goals, they must overcome their own despair while dealing with secretive behavior from behind the scenes.
Episode 1 was previewed at a screening at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku on December 26, 2015. Regular broadcasting began on January 8, 2016.
