Chika homura starts her high school journey with a goal of creating a "cute girl" persona. she quits volleyball despite being an all-star player and joins the underestimated wind instrument club, where she plays the flute, believing it to be the most delicate and feminine instrument. nine years after reuniting with her childhood friend haruta kamijou, chika realizes that he is not swayed by her attempts to become more endearing. despite this setback, chika develops a crush on shinjirou kusakabe, the band instructor - but so does haruta! however, chikas high school experience doesn't go as planned when mysteries start appearing around her and her friends. the club members work together to solve these puzzles while also trying to find more competitors for musical competitions.
