The Earth has established a defense mechanism against large meteorites on a collision course with it. This protection system includes Comet Blasters based in various space stations as the first line of defense, utilizing nuclear warheads launched by spaceships. The second line of defense involves Meteor Sweepers launching from ground airbases using hypersonic planes and special missiles to manage debris resulting from blasts. Mikaze is a trainee pilot for a Meteor Sweeper team with dreams of becoming a Comet Blaster pilot. Stratos 4 focuses on Mikazes' journey, as well as her teammates', to become real pilots while the Earth confronts threats from space.
