In Gifu, Japan, Rudolf leads a contented life surrounded by comfort and care. However, his innate curiosity drives him to venture beyond the confines of his home. Unbeknownst to him, he is accidentally transported to Tokyo in the back of a cargo truck. There, he befriends Ippaiattena, an experienced street cat with a remarkable talent: the ability to comprehend human language. Rudolf's adventure is filled with Japanese culture and highlights the joy of discovery - that moment when you realize you possess the means to unlock the world.

Rudolf to Ippaiattena adapts Hiroshi Saitous 1987 childrens book of the same name, for which he won the 27th Kodansha Award for New Writers of Childrens Literature.
