In this world, both humans and monsters coexist. Those who hunt monsters are known as Hunters. However, in a small part of the Hunter community, there exist individuals called Riders who form bonds with and live alongside their Otomon, or monstrous companions. These Riders use Kizuna Ishi, special stones that allow them to harness the hidden powers within their Otomon, to keep their bonding strong. Ryuto, a young boy living in the Hakum village of Riders, aspires to become the best Rider in the world. At 12 years old, he embarks on a journey with his friends Cheval, Lilia, and Naville to find his own Otomon before receiving his Kizuna Ishi during a ceremony. During their quest through the forest, Ryuto has an incredible encounter with a Rathalos.
