In Magano, a realm inhabited by monsters called Kegare, exorcists deal with purifying entities. Benio Adashino is an accomplished exorcist known for her strength and gets summoned to Tokyo by the Exorcist Union. On her journey, she encounters Rokuro Enmadou, a young exorcist struggling with his past. However, the impurities of Magano persist. When Benio and Rokuro witness two children being stolen by Kegare, Benio rushes to save them, pulling Rokuro along. In the ensuing battle, Benio nearly loses but is rescued by Rokuro, demonstrating his potential as her rival in talent. Sousei no Onmyouji follows the story of two gifted exorcists who are destined to become the "Twin Star Exorcists" and the parents of the Miko-the reincarnation of Abe no Seimei-who will purify the world of all impurities.
