In Japanese ping pong, a powerful king has fallen. A previously unknown underdog team breaks Oudou Academys nine-year winning streak, creating a power vacuum as players everywhere are given hope that they too can reach the national tournament. Suzumegahara Middle School hosts Hanabi Tenka, a small-time team with a rapid attack style led by Hokuto Itsumo, who predicts ball paths. Agari Kamiya is famous for her backhand smash, while Mune Oomune has an aggressive playstyle and Kiruka Ushirode possesses impenetrable defense. Despite their skill at ping pong, the team has never advanced beyond local city tournaments. However, everything changes when transfer student Koyori Tsumujikaze arrives in town. Filled with a fierce passion for the game, she quickly becomes another top player on the team. Her positive attitude towards ping pong inspires the girls to compete fiercely and they set their sights on winning the national tournament together.
