The people of Esteria are under attack from mythical creatures that never seem to stop coming. Despite their best efforts, they struggle to keep up with the relentless onslaught. Even in Minea, a town protected by walls, constant attacks have left the population feeling helpless. In an attempt to bring hope back into the lives of Esterians, a prophecy is made about a brave young hero who will save them all from their misery. Adol Christin, an adventurer with wanderlust in his heart, finds himself washed up on the shores of Esteria after a shipwreck. With the help of Sarah Tovah, a fortuneteller, Adol and his allies set out to search for the legendary Books of Ys that are said to hold the key to peace and salvation for the island's people. The journey ahead will be long and treacherous, but if fate is truly working in their favor, then Adol and his companions will succeed in bringing an end to the chaos that has plagued Esteria for so long.
