In the city's tranquil corner, Kun Oota, a four-year-old child with his parents and their dog Yukko, has led a privileged life as an only child. However, when Mirai, his new baby sister, arrives, Kun's peaceful existence is disrupted; he must now share the attention of his parents. Although Kun initially resents this change, Mirai seems to have captured all their love. To help him cope with this sudden shift in priorities, Kun embarks on an extraordinary journey through time, encountering his family's past, present, and future selves. Through this experience, he learns the significance of being a part of a family and what it means to be an older brother.
The film was nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at the 76th Golden Globe Awards, Best Animated Feature at the 24th Critics' Choice Awards and Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Awards. It is the sixth anime film, and the first non-Ghibli anime film, to receive an Academy Award nomination in the category.
