Mari tamaki has always been fascinated by the universe and what lies beyond it. however, her fear of the unknown and anxiety about her own limitations have hindered her from pursuing her dreams. but now, in her second year of high school, she is more determined than ever to not let any more of her youth go to waste. this determination was sparked by a chance encounter with shirase kobuchizawa, who has grand dreams of her own and is determined to embark on an expedition to antarctica to search for her missing mother. inspired by shirases resolve, mari joined the team and together they set sail toward the frozen south. along the way, they were joined by hinata miyake, who was eager to stand out, and yuzuki shiraishi, a polite girl from a high class background. together, these four spirited girls faced many challenges but ultimately achieved their goal of discovering something great in sora yori mo tooi basho.
