The main character is an aspiring ceramist living in the countryside. He finds himself with four female suitors vying for his affection - a humble country girl, his older sister, a fox deity, and the daughter of his mentor. As they all compete to win his love, they decide to hold separate newlywed days so that he can make an informed decision about which one he prefers.
