Since the passing away of his father, Tanjirou Kamado has been responsible for supporting his family on a remote mountain. Despite their impoverished circumstances, they have managed to lead a contented life. One day, Tanjirou decides to venture down to the nearby village in an attempt to earn some money by selling charcoal. On his return journey home at night, he is forced to seek shelter in the house of a stranger who informs him about the existence of flesh-eating demons that roam through the woods during the night.
Upon returning home the next day, Tanjirou discovers an unimaginable horror-his entire family has been brutally murdered, and his only surviving sibling is Nezuko, who has been transformed into a bloodthirsty demon. Driven by rage and hatred, Tanjirou vows to avenge the deaths of his loved ones and remain loyal to his sister's humanity. Along with the enigmatic Demon Slayer Corps, Tanjirou will stop at nothing to eliminate the demons and safeguard Nezuko.
The anime covers chapters 1 to 53 of the manga.Kimetsu no Yaiba won the Animation of the Year award in the Television category at the Tokyo Anime Award Festival in 2020.
