In a Norwegian tale, there was a man named Hans who made bread while North Wind blew away all of the flour from his bowl. Feeling frustrated, he decided to visit North Wind in his castle to request that he stop blowing the flour and offer compensation. To his surprise, North Wind presented him with a tablecloth that magically produced delicious food on top of it. However, without realizing it, Hans was tricked by an innkeeper into giving away his tablecloth in exchange for nothing.
Determined to get back what was rightfully his, Hans returned to North Wind and received a sheep that dropped gold coins at his feet. But once again, the innkeeper swindled him out of his valuable possession. Feeling betrayed, Hans went back to North Wind one more time, demanding an explanation for the injustice he had suffered. In response, North Wind presented him with a scepter that was booby-trapped to reveal the identity of the thief.
To his relief, Hans discovered that it was the innkeeper who had been stealing from him all along. The innkeeper finally got what he deserved when he tried to swindle the scepter from Hans. In the end, Hans kept the three fantastical items and returned home to his mother, feeling proud of himself for standing up against injustice.
