An anime adaptation of episodes 1 through 3 out of a total of 5 from the Phantasy Star Online 2 game will be created. Additionally, some original content will also be included in the anime series. In episode 1, the player and their ARKS training partner Afin encounter vile creatures known as Darkers during their qualification exam on planet Naberius. They later discover a mysterious girl who has lost most of her memories, leading to revelations about Naberius and the recent increase in Darker activity. Episode 2 focuses on the player and Matoi as they try to uncover a dark conspiracy surrounding ARKS' origins and purpose. In episode 3, the discovery of planet Harukotan leads to a new quest as the peaceful coexistence between Shironians and Kuronites living there is disrupted by a sudden attack from the Kuronites. The newly-reformed ARKS must investigate the cause behind this disturbance, and it appears that the truth may be more complex and terrifying than anticipated.
