The planet Galman is facing a major crisis as its people are dying at an alarming rate. To save his people and relocate them to a habitable land, Aberdt Desler pretends to submit to the oppressive rule of Galman. However, while Gamilans begin their migration, they face a massive unidentified power attack that warps Iscandar, Queen Starshas home planet. Meanwhile, Earth celebrates the success of Space Battleship Yamato and its crew. A new generation of recruits joins Yamato along with two support ships, led by Yuki Mori and Shirou Sanada. Despite disagreements about past decisions made by Susumu Kodai, the crew learns of the recent catastrophe in Iscandar during a six-month training mission and diplomatic meeting with Gamilans. Against all orders, Kodai commands the fleet to aid the surviving refugees on Iscandar.
Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2205: Aratanaru Tabidachi was originally released as two separate movies subtitled Zenshou - Take Off and Koushou - Stasha. Limited edition Blu-rays were released on October 15, 2021 and February 11, 2022, while the standard Blu-ray and DVD editions were released on November 26, 2021 and March 29, 2022, respectively.
