Nobita and his father purchase a large rhinoceros beetle, which Nobita pledges to care for properly. Later, Doraemon's gang discovers an island inhabited by both modern humans and ancient creatures that were thought to have vanished long ago. This island is protected by the mythical spirit of Golden Hercules, who resides within a rhinoceros beetle. However, the group encounters a band of criminals from the future who seek to capture Golden Hercules for financial gain.
