After successfully executing a robbery and obtaining a large sum of fake currency known as "Goat Bills," thief Arsene Lupin III, along with his accomplice Jigen, found themselves without any valuable possessions. Determined to find the counterfeiter responsible for these bills, Lupin decided to investigate further at the Castle of Cagliostro. There, he discovered not only the "Goat Bills," but also a damsel in distress who was being held captive by the Regents guards. Although Lupin failed in his initial attempt to rescue her, he ultimately succeeded in freeing her from her imprisonment. However, Inspector Zenigata remained hot on Lupin's trail throughout the entire adventure.
Lupin III: Cagliostro no Shiro was the winner of the 1979 Oofuji Noburou Award.The main character of this film claims to be the grandson of the infamous gentleman thief Arsène Lupin. Arsène Lupin is a fictional character created in 1905 by French writer Maurice Leblanc. Lupin was featured in 17 novels and 39 novellas written by Leblanc; countless other creators have featured Lupin in various media adaptations.
