Yang Lin was a high school student who fell asleep during a history class. Upon waking up, he found that he had transformed into the scholar Yang Lin and had been transported to the Danzhu Dynasty as depicted in his textbook. Initially, Yang Lin struggled to adapt to life in the past, but he was able to use contemporary ideas to make some small improvements that won over the villagers. Eventually, he discovered his own sense of identity and lived through times of both internal and external turmoil, including battles and the suffering of the people. Through his knowledge and abilities, Yang Lin was able to gain access to the court and oversee efforts to combat corruption within the Danzhu Dynasty and defend against external threats.
