From the Appenines to the Andes

In the novel Cuore by Edmondo de Amicis, we are introduced to Marco, a young boy living in Genoa with his father Pietro. However, their family is not whole because Marco's mother has been working in Argentina for over a year now. Letters from her arrive regularly until one day they stop coming. This sudden halt of communication causes Marco great concern about what might have happened to his mother. Driven by this worry and the desire to be reunited with his mother, Marco decides to travel to Argentina. At first, Pietro is hesitant to allow Marco to go on such a journey, but ultimately relents due to his son's enthusiasm. This marks the beginning of Marco's long and emotional quest for his mother. Along the way, he meets many individuals who help him grow and find acceptance within himself.
