In this story, it appears that death by thunder and fire has led to the uncovering of secrets from the previous dynasty that were destroyed by such events. Three individuals with different backgrounds are brought together by chance through the actions of their masters. Jing Yifei, the leader of Jinwu Guard, is tasked with discovering the truth about the mysterious "rat soldiers." Bai Qi, a descendant of Jieyi living in seclusion in the mountains, leads his master down the mountain in search of a young machine master to join Jinwu Guard. However, Bai Qi discovers that Qin Ming, whom he was looking for, is actually deceiving and abducting him! As they work together, they gradually uncover more about Lei Huo, the subject of their quest.
