An environmental group known as the Animal Liberation Alliance has saved a pregnant chimpanzee from captivity in a laboratory for animal testing. However, when it gave birth, it produced a hybrid creature called Charlie, who was half human and half chimpanzee. After fifteen years of being raised by human parents, Charlie is now ready for high school but his foster parents are sending him there. Meanwhile, the stance of the Animal Liberation Alliance has become more radical, leading them to involve Charlie in their terrorist activities.
