In recent times, there were structures known as "Dungeons" that appeared worldwide. No one knows their origin or purpose, yet they attracted adventurers and armies alike. Thousands ventured into these mysterious labyrinths, but none returned. In the city of Parthevium, a young boy named Sinbad was about to embark on his journey. He was kind-hearted, brave, and yearned for adventure. A benevolent act led him to meet Yunan, an enigmatic traveler with concealed strength. Yunan tasked Sinbad to acquire the "power of the king" and reshape the world by defeating a Dungeon. Eager to accept, Sinbad set forth on his quest for adventure. This prequel series, Magi: Sinbad no Bouken, follows Sinbads youth as he overcame challenges while pursuing his dream of becoming a Dungeon conqueror.

The Magi: Sinbad no Bouken OVAs were aired as episodes 2 through 6 of the television series under modified titles.
