The special editions of mangas 7th and 8th volumes come bundled with the release of a certain man who was recently released from prison. Upon his release, he knew exactly where he would be heading first - to become an apprentice to Yakumo, the traditional comic storyteller known for his rendition of "Shinigami." Although Yakumo had never taken on an apprentice before, he surprised everyone by accepting the eager ex-prisoner and nicknamed him "Yotaro." As Yotaro began his new life, he met others in Yakumos world, including Konatsu, the ward of Yakumo. Konatsu was the daughter of a famous storyteller and had been taken in by Yakumo after her fathers tragic death. She loved her fathers storytelling and dreamed of becoming a performer herself, but that path was not available for women.
