Takeshi Nakazato from Myougi Night Kids challenges Takumi Fujiwara to a downhill battle after seeing him win against Keisuke Takahashi in a race with his Mazda RX7. Despite his Nissan Skyline GT-R being superior to the AE86, Nakazato is told that he will never defeat Takumi, which enrages him. Believing grip racing is better than flashy drift racing, Nakazato is determined to prove he is the better racer. Itsuki Takeuchi accepts the challenge on behalf of Takumi, but he is reluctant to get involved and chooses not to race. His employer goads him into accepting, but when he returns home to get his AE86, he finds his father has taken it out for himself. As he waits for his father's return, Takumi's desire to race grows stronger.
