- They deserve better than me. Someone more skilled than I am... - The stage is set a year before Ren arrives in Kaminohara. Akira moves to Kaminohara from Sendai with one goal in mind: revenge against those who wronged his sister during her battle with MS. His sister's wounds fuel his desire for vengeance, and he sets out on a path of violence that will ultimately lead him to the stage where Ren will make his entrance. - Haruma is lost when Akira gives him directions, revealing a side of the usually cold and calculating teen that is caring and compassionate towards others. Through observing Akira's violent battles with MS, Haruma realizes that Akira fights while reading his enemies' attacks. This leads to the idea of recruiting Akira to join their teammates Aoi and Minami. Although initially surprised and reluctant, they decide to trust Haruma, who has saved the spot for the right person on their team.
