John Brown serves as Queen Victorias personal assistant and is responsible for explaining things on her behalf while also trying to lift her spirits. He maintains a serious demeanor even when pretending to be Prince Albert through a hand puppet. Despite his pride in explaining things, he never attempts to take control over the queen or interrupt her speech. Occasionally, Queen Victoria physically abuses him, such as when she steps on his head with a horse to quiet him down, but John takes it all in stride and does not complain. In the anime, Ash replaces Johns role. The character of John Brown is inspired by the real servant to Queen Victoria, who was highly favored by her.
