Retsuga's father, Fuuga, was a strong male who left Reimas pack in protest against their belief that killing humans was right. His teacher, Noroi, stamped him as an outlaw and sent his subordinates to kill him. Despite being exhausted, Fuuga managed to get pinned in a corner by Noroi's minions until Riki from Ou arrived and saved him. As a reward, Fuuga taught Riki the Zetsu warrior attack known as the Zetsu tenrou battouga. Later, Fuuga had an argument with his son, which was quickly settled by Reima. He then followed Gin's group into the Underworld. During this time, Juga fought Gin and nearly killed him. In response, Fuuga leaped at Juga to save Gin, sacrificing himself in accordance with an old myth that stated there could only be one living warrior of the Zetsu tenrou battouga. As a result, Fuuga committed suicide and was killed by Juga to resurrect Gin.
