In the beginning, Yuuichi is portrayed as a hardworking student with strong friendships. He values his companions dearly and demonstrates kindness and self-sacrifice for their sake, even going so far as to label himself a traitor to prevent conflict. However, as the story progresses and the games become increasingly serious, Yuuichi's behavior shifts dramatically. This change is likely due to his upbringing by an adopted mother who had to sell her body and a con man/swindler who served as a father figure and teacher. Despite this, he shows little remorse for his actions and appears sadistic at times when he takes pleasure in the misfortunes of others.
