The first appearance of Jabbathe was during an attempt to seize control of a stronghold. Despite losing, they were approached by Askeladd who suggested that for half the loot, they could join forces and fight together with their 100 men. If they refused, they would have to align themselves with the opposing side. Jabbathe agreed, but he had no intention of sharing the spoils equally. With assistance from Askeladd, the fortress was conquered. However, to Jabbathe's astonishment, Askeladd had already claimed all the loot beforehand, leaving him with only the honor of victory.
