Masaru Katou is described as having a good personality and being helpful towards others. He takes care of his younger brother who he is very protective of due to the loss of his parents. Although he has leadership skills, his inability to harm others can hinder his performance in certain situations, such as in the game of Gantz. Masaru Katou was Kei Kuronos childhood friend and they meet again after their deaths when Katou tries to help a drunk person off the train line.
