In the manga, a feudal lord named Ieyasus son and wife were killed by Princess Sara. Although this is not historically accurate, it's important to note that Usagi first met him in the woods while gathering herbs for a wounded soldier. Later on, he stitched up Usagis forehead when she accidentally ran into a wall. He then hired her as an herbalist to assist his current herbalist, Yukimaru. Despite Usagis constant pleading, he initially refused to allow Sara and Kami-no-Hanzō to be together. However, after learning that Hanzōs father was working for him, he eventually allowed them to unite.
In the manga, Usagi also inspired Ieyasu to take control of Japan in order to bring peace and prosperity. As a result, she was granted permission to live and work with him.
