Joe Buttataki, also known as "Mole Hunter," makes his debut in chapter thirty-seven of the manga when he's called to Shibusen to investigate a possible spy. His name translates to "kick the shit out of" and he says this phrase at the end of chapter thirty-seven. In the manga, Joe detects a snake placed inside Marie Mjolnir's body. He was once Marie's ex-boyfriend who kept his distance from her due to fear that his "soul perception" would allow him to see through her. Despite this, he asked Marie out for dinner and expressed regret over his decision. Joe considers his ability a curse since it only allows him to work in jobs where he must mistrust his allies. He is the first technician to be able to penetrate a witch's technique to appear human, and his power continues to grow.
