Hanare is a kunoichi from Jōmae Village who was raised as an orphan and longed for a family home. She spent her childhood feeling lonely due to not knowing her parents or village. From a young age, she was trained in espionage. While wandering near her village, Kakashi found Hanare crying and carried her on his back. He told her that she could find her way by looking at the clouds above. Later, they were seen by a ninja from Hanares village, and Kakashi put her down on her feet and left. Hanare was excited to have someone like Kakashi help her in life. Hanare has the ability to read others' thoughts using her right eye to look into their minds. She can also erase all of her own thoughts by weaving signs with specific eye movements. This technique helps her gather information and is useful in various situations. Hanare has been trained to have a strong will, which makes her unyielding even to severe torture, such as that inflicted by Ibiki Morino, a master manipulator of the human psyche.
