The neighbor and rival of the player is named Hop, who aims to become the Champion like his brother Leon. To start off, he embarks on his journey with Wooloo as his first Pokémon. As a starter Pokémon, it's weak against the player's choice. Following this, Hop encounters a mysterious Pokémon in Slumbering Weald and receives an endorsement from Leon. Consequently, they both board the train to Motostoke, marking the beginning of their respective journeys.
