Biwa is an anime character who adopted the name "Biwa" after her father, who was a biwa player and her mother, a shirabyōshi. She carries with her a memento from her deceased father in the form of a biwa instrument. Unlike most anime protagonists, she does not determine the story's flow but serves as an observer or "sky" watching events unfold before her eyes. Biwa has the ability to see the future using her right eye, but she keeps this power hidden from others due to her initial resentment towards those who caused her father's death. However, later in the series, she realizes that predicting the future is futile and does not change it.
The name her parents gave her is Asagi (浅葱) after the unusual color of her right eye.
She doesnt want the world to forget the Taira clan, so she recounts the story of their fall as a mournful song, which she plays on her biwa.
