Shinji Ikari
Third Child, 碇 シンジ
Shinji Ikari is the child of Gendo and Yui Ikari who operates Unit 01. He was left by his father when young and tends to avoid challenging circumstances. As a pilot, he gets easily scared and responds poorly to unexpected occurrences. However, with support from Misato, he gradually overcomes fear, speaks up more openly, and gains confidence.
