Mewtwo is a genetically engineered pokémon that was cloned from mew using advanced dna manipulation techniques. created by scientists over many years through repeated recombination, gene splicing, and other experiments, its dna is mostly similar to the original mew's but differs significantly in body size and personality. unlike mew, which has compassionate traits, mewtwo is known for being savage and able to instill fear into its enemies with its cold glowing eyes. its combat abilities and psychic powers are highly developed due to its creation for battle purposes. to conserve energy, it remains motionless while fighting. in pokémon special, mewtwo was created by blaine using mew's dna mixed with some of his own human cells. however, an accident occurred during the process, causing some of mewtwo's cells to backflow into blaine's arm, making him unable to fight for more than three minutes whenever mewtwo uses its power. in the rgb series, mewtwo made its first appearance in team rockets laboratory under the celadon game corner.

using Enteis flame, Blaine was finally released from the cells, and at the same time, Mewtwo left Cinnabar island. it was seen in Blaines lab on Cinnabar island. Later, it was used by him against Lance where he attempted to destroy his pokéballs, which failed when Lance revealed that all of his pokémon were outside all along. Mewtwo returned to fight alongside Red, being able to talk to him using telepathy. Later in the series, it escaped from the lab and hid near Cerulean Cave, where it was later captured by Blaines Master Ball with Reds help.
