Dan was Shizunes uncle, who was the younger brother of one of her parents. Following the demise of his sister, he became an advocate for medical ninjas being assigned to every squad. His belief in this cause resonated with Tsunade, and they soon started dating due to their shared interests. During their relationship, Dan confided in Tsunade about his aspiration to become Hokage, believing that the title would enable him to safeguard the people of Konoha more effectively. Regrettably, during the Second Great Shinobi World War, Dan sustained fatal injuries and despite Tsunades valiant efforts to save him, he ultimately succumbed to his wounds.
