Yukishiro Tomoe was an eldest daughter born to a samurai who worked as a low-level bureaucrat for the Tokugawa Shogunate in Edo. She had one sibling, her younger brother Enishi, whom she considered like a parent due to their mother's passing shortly after his birth. As per Shogunal regulations, Yukishiro practiced Buddhism. Despite finding it challenging to openly express her emotions and thoughts, she kept diaries to document them privately.
