Kyotaro is a 12-year-old male student with delusions of grandeur. Although he initially harbored violent thoughts towards Anna, these were later replaced by romantic feelings as he spent more time with her. Kyotaro can be quite observant in social situations but struggles with communication skills and low self-esteem, which hinders his ability to pick up on other social issues. In addition to his macabre interests, he is also a fan of manga and anime such as Baki, Beastars, and ReZero. Kyotaro uses Rem from ReZero as his profile picture on Line. Prior to middle school, he won several awards for essays, poster drawings, independent research projects, among others.
