Shou, being a childhood friend of Erza and having known her during their time as slaves building the Tower of Paradise, is particularly attuned to his surroundings. As the youngest member of the group, he's also the most emotionally sensitive. Additionally, he's the closest to calling Erza "nee-san," a term of endearment indicating a deep bond between them.
