Garchomp is a bipedal Pokémon that primarily appears dark blue in color with red on its underbelly from the lower jaw to the middle of the abdomen, including the undersides of its arms. A patch of gold comes below the red on its belly and a golden star shape adorns the tip of its snout. Horn-like appendages resembling jet engines or planes give it an appearance similar to a hammerhead shark, allowing it to sense prey from a long distance. Its large mouth features razor-sharp teeth, while each arm has a single large white claw for a hand and three white talons on its feet. Curved fins sprout from the arms, creating wings that allow Garchomp to fly. A dorsal fin and another on its tail resemble shark tailfins, with the males' dorsal fin featuring a notch. Pairs of small, white spikes protrude from its upper arms and legs, while gill-like slits are present on the sides of its neck. The eyes have intense black sclerae and gold-colored irises.
When Garchomp Mega Evolves, several features become more angular, including its head and shoulders. A row of five tooth-like spikes sprouts from each side of its abdomen, while red spikes grow from its knees. The claws and fins on its arms melt into sharp, red blades due to excessive Mega Evolution energy. Garchomp is enraged at the sight of its wings melting into scythes and can slice the ground with them. Its scythes are capable of tearing up opponents viciously.
Garchomp can fly at an incredible speed, as fast as a jet, cutting down trees with its blades of wind. It is able to move in both the air and underground and preys on bird Pokémon, sometimes battling Salamence for food. After catching prey, it returns to its den before its body cools down. The fine scales on its body reduce drag for easier flight and their sharp edges also serve to injure opponents who attack it directly. Garchomp is a cave-dwelling Pokémon that requires extreme caution when encountered in the wild.
