Yumi is a traffic cop who specializes in handling accidents and hit-and-run cases. She frequently interacts with the Detective Boys and Conan while they are working on cases, providing assistance that has helped them catch criminals. Her closest friend is Miwako Sato, whom she teases about her feelings for Wataru Takagi. Yumi gives advice to both of them on how to express their emotions, although this sometimes results in failed plans due to their shyness around each other. Yumi is allergic to cats and owns dogs. She is considered attractive by many, which allows her to use her charm to get gifts from the men in her district in an attempt to impress them.
