Hikari horaki (洞木 ヒカリ horaki hikari) serves as the class representative for the group that includes shinji and other eva pilot candidates. despite her reserved demeanor, she often clashes with toji. although she harbors a deep affection for him, she is unable to openly express it due to their frequent disagreements. it seems like asuka considers hikari as her only friend. following the battle against arael, asuka seeks out hikari and stays with her for an undisclosed period. during a late night conversation, asuka shares her insecurities with hikari, demonstrating their strong bond. however, hikari appears saddened by the harsh words that asuka uses. hikari is known for being an excellent cook and takes care of her two sisters. her mother has passed away, but no information about her father is provided. like kensuke, hikari's name comes from a character in ryu murakami's novel the fascism of love and fantasies (ai to gensou no fascism). additionally, the names of her sisters, nozomi and kodama, are inspired by the trains on the tokaido shinkansen line.
