Ruki initially views Digimon as nothing more than computer data, with the goal of making her partner, Renamon, the strongest possible. However, she later realizes that they must be on equal footing and develop a strong friendship. Despite being somewhat bitter and antisocial due to her parents' divorce, Takato, Jenrya, and Renamon help Ruki see the value of friendship. Their relationship with Renamon is unique because he is the most mature rookie Digimon, and they communicate as equals, neither as a pet nor a playful child. Unlike many other female characters in the series, Ruki's personality is rebellious, proud, independent, grouchy, and cynical, making her stand out from the rest.
